Living Manifestations Narrative Mapping, [applied] Foreign Affairs lab
This work is an attempt to capture and visualise the origins, meanings and relationships behind the family compound Sirigu (Northern Ghana). An attempt to understand how spiritual influences and site specificities shape the family house.
The compound structure as cosmos, as reflection and manifestation of a way of living. The historical and cultural background of the mamprusi people in guabuliga is very different from the kassena people in sirigu.
the mamprusi originally migrated from mali (around 1400) and with time converted to christianity and islam. as a consquence a lot of traditions and spiritual values got lost. coming from burkinafaso the kassena are still practicing their animistic tradtitions and are maintaining its implementation in architecture.
